
Challenge
- In 2005, the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners received a consultants’ proposal for over $43 million dollars to expand the Jail Complex with an additional 500 inmate beds.
Solution
- Four 50′ wide by 215′ long fully insulated structures, accommodating 100 inmates each
Results
- A savings of nearly $30 million dollars while adding 688 beds. In addition to these savings, the Jail utilized Inmate Work Crews to assist with the construction of the project, which saved Brevard County Taxpayers an additional $1 million dollars in labor costs.
