The Town of Collingwood is a growing and vibrant community. Collingwood needed to ensure that their sports and recreation facilities meet the needs of the current and future residents, at a cost they could afford.
The outdoor pool in Collingwood was built in 1967. In 2013 the pool was enclosed with a new high-tech Sprung structure, allowing it to be used year-round. An additional accessible warm-water pool was also added to enhance the facility now called the Centennial Aquatic Centre. A 90′ wide x 210′ long Sprung structure was erected in a 6 month time frame and features a specially designed pool insulation system that performs extremely well in high humidity environments, while translucent daylight panels and sunshine doors add natural daylight to enhance the swimming experience.
Collingwood now has a second ice rink for year-round use. The new Central Park Arena is located in Central Park, to complement the Eddie Bush Arena. With a full size, 85ft by 200ft ice surface, the new arena is complete with premium dasher boards and glass. There is an interior spectator seating for 390 people, and a mezzanine lounge for viewing. The lounge can be rented out for special events and presentations. There are six dressing rooms for athletes, including a dedicated female dressing room. As well, the referee room is capable of accommodating up to eight referees.
