Challenge
- Founded in 1935, Millfield is one of the leading UK co-educational independent school for pupils aged 13–18 years. Millfield Senior School has an excellent outdoor facilities including a driving range, practice greens & golf course. Wanting to improve the school’s indoor provision by creating a state-of-the-art indoor facility that would facilitate year round practice, for the schools expanding golf and cricket programmes.
Solution
- 50’ wide x 75’ long (18.3m x 22.9m ) for golf facility
- 70’ wide x 165’ long (21.3m x 50.3m) for the cricket facility
Results
- For the Millfield Cricket program, the new facility enables the sport to practice all the year round, at all times of day, to increase the already 370 strong programme (including 80 girls). Practice is key in the development of high performance cricket. Having a place to practice is key. The Centre features new PitchVision technology on three lanes, a state-of-the-art 4G fielding area, three adaptable bowling and batting surfaces, as well as five nets and an expansive 22 meter run-up.
- Millfield Senior School has one of the best indoor golf training facilities in the world and it is enjoyed by Millfield pupils, county, and international golfers. The Sprung Structure provides an incredible sporting environment due to the daylight panels, providing natural light and the energy-efficient structure provides the perfect training temperature. The new Golf Centre allows the golf program to expand group sessions, as 16 pupils will be able to use the facilities at the same time.
