Tree of Life Church was founded August 2, 1981 by Pastors Don and Karen Duncan with a handful of families in the living room of a home.
It was founded on the belief that God is a good God and has a good plan for your life. That still rings true today many years later as Tree of Life continues to carry on the plans and purposes of God found in its founding scripture Proverbs 11:30, “The fruit of the righteous is a Tree of Life and he who wins souls is wise.”
Over these many years we have continued to grow until landing on this amazing 54 acre campus on IH35. Along the way there were some interesting places to call home: a private home, the Holiday Inn, Carl Schurz Elementary School, Yamaha Motorcycle Shop, a warehouse that housed a Tattoo parlor, ice cream shop, Mrs. Baird’s bakery, and the Comal County Tax Office. We plan to be on these 54 acres for a long time and are finding a way to use every inch of it for the Kingdom of God. God is faithful!
Our church is an independent, non-denominational, spirit-filled church! That means we are not affiliated with any one denomination. The fact is our church is full of people who were raised with different backgrounds or no church background at all. We desire to reach out and touch the lives of the un-churched. The thing we all have in common is that we exalt Jesus Christ as Lord and we believe the Bible is the Word of God.
On October 1st 2006 Pastor Don Duncan, son of the founder, was set in as the Sr. Pastor of Tree of Life Church. He is excited to carry on the vision God had placed in the heart of his father for many years to come. He and his wife Jessamy, along with a dedicated team of great people strive to carry on the vision of leading people to become fully devoted followers of Christ through sharing, caring, growing, and sowing. Tree of Life continues to be just that, a Tree of Life for a lost and hurting world.
