LA DEMANDE
Fenix set out to develop Peru’s first natural gas combined-cycle power plant, a landmark energy project in Chilca, a district on the country’s Pacific coast. To support construction and ongoing operations, the company required durable interim structures that could be installed quickly, withstand demanding coastal conditions and provide essential space for a range of site applications. As the first buildings on-site, these structures would play a critical role in the project’s success.
COMMENT SPRUNG A TENU PAROLE
Sprung designed and delivered three fully insulated structures to support the construction of the Fenix power plant. A 60’ x 117’ building served as a shop and warehouse for construction materials and electrical equipment, while a second structure of the same size served as a dining facility for approximately 280 workers. The largest structure, a 99’ x 250’ building known as the GE Warehouse, was used to assemble General Electric gas turbines and featured multiple rolling service doors to accommodate oversized components.
Built to perform in Chilca’s demanding coastal environment, the structures featured a non-corrosive aluminum structural framework and clear-span design that maximized interior space for workers and equipment alike.
