2009年9月29日、2つの大きな地震により4つの津波が発生し、アメリカ領サモアとトンガの海岸を襲い、甚大な被害をもたらしました。災害復興に取り組む中で学生の教育を継続させるため、アメリカ領サモアでは津波で破壊された学校に代わる建造物が必要でした。
アメリカ領サモアからの注文を受けてから6日以内に、スプラングは8インチのグラスファイバー断熱パッケージ、テドラーコーティング膜、空調を備えた12の耐久性のある建造物を納入しました。食堂や教室として使用され、時速140マイルの風荷重に耐えるように設計されたこの建物は、災害復旧の間、安全な避難所としても機能しました。
