Hill AFB Columbus – Access Control

Hill Air Force Base

The Ask

Hills Air Force Base needed to provide a covered area for inspecting large commercial trucks entering the base at its Roy Gate. Years earlier, the base had purchased a membrane structure from a different company to serve that function, but the quality of that structure was sub-standard and eventually deteriorated to the point that it needed to be torn down. After a long period of not having anything to cover the inspection area, officials at Hill Air Force Base realized they needed to give a membrane structure another chance.

How Sprung Delivered

Within 10 days, Sprung erected a high-performance, open-ended structure built with our patented tensioned membrane technology. The cost-effective, earth-anchored shelter featured three-foot leg extensions, high bay lights, and a military-grade aluminum substructure that outperforms steel in the most extreme climates.

A New Chapter Begins

After 138 years serving Southern Alberta, Western Tent would like to announce that our operations are being absorbed by our larger conglomerate, Sprung Structures. As we move forward, many of the products we’ve offered over the years—including residential and commercial awnings, canopies, tents and custom shelters—will no longer be available.

Thank you to all of our loyal and valued customers. Your trust and support over the years have meant the world to us. We invite you to visit www.sprung.com to see what the company’s future holds under the Sprung name.

With gratitude,
