After its original Munitions Configuration Shelter was condemned following structural failure during the winter of 2022-23, the 3rd Munitions Squadron urgently needed a replacement facility. The new shelter had to be durable enough to withstand Alaska’s extreme weather while providing a safe, climate-controlled workspace for personnel conducting critical munitions operations.

Partnering with Banair, Sprung designed and delivered a 60’ x 150’ structure to serve as the 3rd Munitions Squadron’s new Munitions Configuration Shelter. Erected on an asphalt foundation and secured with earth anchors, the highly durable, fully insulated structure features a Mediterranean Olive Tedlar membrane that is compliant with the Berry Amendment. It also features an open, clear-span interior that provides ample workspace, as well several rolling service doors that allow for easy access into and out of the building.
