2008年、フォートライリーのスタッフが兵士回復ユニットのためのスペースを必要とした際、彼らは数年前に基地用に設計・建設された4つのスプラング構造のヘリコプター格納庫のうちの1つを解体・移設することを決定しました。スプラングの建造物は容易に移設できるように設計されているため、フォートライリーの既存の建造物を移設することは、効率とコスト削減の観点から最良の選択でした。
様々な関係者と協力しながら、スプラングのチームメンバーはフォート・ライリー基地の既存の格納庫の解体工事を行い、その後、同基地の病院近くに移設し、兵士の回復ユニットとして再組み立てしました。スプラングの特徴であるクリアスパン設計と、頂部のデイライトパネルが特徴で、再建された建造物は完全断熱で、リハビリを必要とする負傷兵や病弱な兵士に明るく快適な雰囲気を提供します。時には、この建物は大規模な会議を開催する場所としても利用されている。
