LHSCのスタッフは、ビクトリア病院の外来患者や緊急性の低い症例用に新しいMRI装置を導入したいと考えたとき、自己完結型で取り外し可能なユニットとして設置できる革新的な技術であるMagnetom Free.Max 0.55T MRIを選択しました。この決定は、LHSCが病院内にMRIスペースを追加することに伴う高額な建設費を回避できることを意味する一方で、スタッフや患者が画期的な装置を収納するコンテナにアクセスするための安全で便利な方法が必要であることを意味しました。そこで、関係者はスプラングに解決策を求めました。
ビクトリア病院の本館と自己完結型MRIユニットの間を簡単に行き来できるよう、スプラングが10フィート×60フィートの廊下を設計・納入しました。完全に断熱された通路構造は、ピンとアースアンカーでアスファルト面に安全に固定されており、将来は簡単に移設して別の用途に再利用することができます。
