2007年後半、国防総省（DOD）は、イラクでほとんどの装甲を施した高機動多輪車（HMMWV）を、地雷に強く、待ち伏せに強い（MRAP）車両に置き換える大規模な調達イニシアチブを開始した。MRAPは、即席爆発装置（IED）に対して、高装甲HMMWVの2倍の防御力を発揮すると言われている。IEDは、最盛期にはイラクにおける米軍死傷者の約70％を占めていた。スプラング社は、イラクの8つの軍事基地にある車両整備施設の緊急ソリューションをMRAPプログラムに提供するよう要請された。
スプラングの配達方法
Sprung mobilized operations and delivered 11 structures totaling 265,000 square feet within the four to six-week delivery requirement. Featuring double panel rolling doors, the structures provided the military with the ability to fit all necessary equipment and vehicles into the facilities. In addition, the structures’ tensioned fabric membranes guaranteed longevity, quality and protection against the elements.
