ハリケーン「マイケル」は、2018年10月にカテゴリー5の暴風雨でベイ郡に上陸し、壊滅的な被害をもたらしました。いくつかの消防署が破壊され、地域の緊急対応時間を短縮するために、消防署の建て替えが必要となりました。
スプラングは、サウスポートとヒランドパークにある被害を受けた駅舎に代わる、完全断熱構造の駅舎2基を納入しました。ベイ郡はFEMA（連邦緊急事態管理庁）の資金を利用して2つのスプラング建造物を購入し、プロジェクトは従来型の施設の3分の1のコストで完成しました。さらに、この建造物はハリケーンに対するマイアミ・デイド郡の法令に準拠して建設され、スプラングが契約を獲得してから6ヶ月以内に完成しました。
