サンフランシスコのゴールデンゲートパークにある温室兼植物園、フラワー・コンサベーションには、珍しいエキゾチックな植物が数多く展示されています。1879年に完成した歴史的な美しい建物は北米で最も古い木とガラスでできた公共の温室です。ゴールデンゲートパークの庭園関係者は、温室周辺の多目的スペースを拡張する必要があると判断したとき、従来のテント技術に代わるものとしてスプラングに注目しました。
スプラングが納入した40フィート×70フィートの建造物は、コンサーバトリーの歴史的建築と見事に調和しています。外装には繊細なレンガの羽目板、自然光を十分に取り込むガラス壁、広く開放的なクリアスパンの内装が特徴的なこの建物は、ゴールデンゲートパークの庭園内で安全かつ洗練された多目的スペースとして機能し、完成以来毎週末に予約が入っています。
