過密収容に悩まされていたオンタリオ州ロンドンのエルジン・ミドルセックス拘置所は、収容能力を高めるため、耐久性があり、カスタマイズ可能で費用対効果の高い建造物を必要としていました。具体的には、密入国を防ぎ、職員と受刑者の安全を向上させるため、不定期に収監される受刑者を一般の受刑者から隔離することで機能させています。
スプラングが納入したのは、「地域間欠センター」と名付けられた112床の最新鋭の独立型建築物です。当社の特許技術であるテンションメンブレン技術を採用したこの建物には、2つの寮、隔離ユニット、オフィスと監視塔を備えた2階の中2階、セキュリティで保護されたチェックインエリアと待合室、ロッカー、そして日々の業務を円滑に進めるために不可欠なセキュリティ設備がすべて備わっています。
