As the demand for emergency air medical services began to rise in Western Washington, stakeholders determined that Life Flight Network required a permanent hangar at Bowerman Airport, which is located in Grays Harbor County along the state’s Pacific Coast. Not only did this hangar need to be spacious enough to accommodate either a helicopter or Pilatus fixed-wing aircraft, it also had to be highly durable, with the capability to withstand extreme wind loads. In addition, Life Flight Network wanted to be able to showcase its logo on the hangar’s exterior.

Sprung designed and delivered a highly durable, 80’ x 60’ hangar to support Life Flight Network’s work in coastal Washington. Featuring a quiet, fast-opening vertical door large enough for easy aircraft access, the structure has a sleek, column-free interior that includes built-out bathrooms, a flight mechanic’s office and lockers for pilots and flight nurses. The structure was also built with dual layer insulation for all-season functionality, and its windows and lighting system provide ample illumination for the Life Flight Network team.
