2004年4月、ポーラー航空はベルギーのリエージュにあった施設が手狭になり、顧客へサービスを提供するため、より戦略的な立地の空港を探していた。同社はアムステルダムのスキポール空港への移転を希望していたが、空港内の倉庫スペースとして使用するため、11万平方フィートの密閉建造物が必要だった。
