ЗАПИТАННЯ

When members of Bearspaw First Nation decided it was time to build a new, multi-purpose community center on the Eden Valley Reserve, Alberta, they turned to Sprung for a fast and cost-effective solution. The Nation had originally erected a steel structure to serve as a community gathering place, but that structure had gone unoccupied for several years because it didn’t meet certain building and engineering codes. Members wanted to replace the empty structure with a high-performing, code-compliant facility that could serve as a space for cultural events, sports and community services.

Sprung designed and delivered a fully insulated, 100’ x 150’ structure to serve as Bearspaw First Nation’s new community gathering space on the Eden Valley Reserve. Erected primarily by members of the Nation, the structure was built on top of the concrete foundation that had housed the reserve’s original (unoccupied) community center, saving the Nation time and money.

In order to ensure the building’s durability amid the high winds that frequently affect Eden Valley, Sprung’s superior post-tensioning system was used for the structure’s insulation and interior liner, as well as for the exterior membrane, which also features an appealing, colorful pattern based on the Bearspaw First Nations flag.
