Grappling with extreme summer temperatures regularly exceeding 110°F, the City of Phoenix recognized the urgent need to establish a site that would provide shelter and essential services for individuals experiencing homelessness. City officials sought a fast, cost-effective and durable building solution that could offer relief from the intense heat while serving as a dedicated hub for delivering vital support to some of Phoenix’s most vulnerable residents.

Sprung designed and delivered three fully insulted structures: one measuring 70’ x 120’ and two measuring 80’ x 105’. Assembled quickly and designed to withstand extreme heat and other challenging conditions, these airy, clear-span structures now make up the City of Phoenix’s closed-campus homeless navigation center, offering a total of 200 congregate beds and an array of on-site support services for vulnerable men and women in need of assistance.
