CP Rail – Wheel Change

The Canadian Pacific Railway

The Ask

At its facility in St. Paul, Minnesota, the CPR needed to provide some sort of shelter from the elements for its technicians as they worked to change out the wheel assemblies on the company’s rail cars. The structure had to be placed over an existing working pit amid train tracks and other area structures.

How Sprung Delivered

Sprung provided a cost-effective, open-ended structure that was erected using anchors to negate the need for foundations or footings. The innovative structure included a custom vestibule to enclose a large electrical panel, a side sliding cargo door for pit area access, and six-foot leg extensions to bring the structure up to the height requirements of the numerous rail car dimensions.

A New Chapter Begins

After 138 years serving Southern Alberta, Western Tent would like to announce that our operations are being absorbed by our larger conglomerate, Sprung Structures. As we move forward, many of the products we’ve offered over the years—including residential and commercial awnings, canopies, tents and custom shelters—will no longer be available.

Thank you to all of our loyal and valued customers. Your trust and support over the years have meant the world to us. We invite you to visit www.sprung.com to see what the company’s future holds under the Sprung name.

With gratitude,
The Western Tent Team
