The Ask
Several years ago, the school expanded its campus property and was initially considering traditional construction for classrooms, two NHL-sized hockey rinks and a gymnasium. But when plans were developed, the estimated project costs exceeded the available budget by $10 million. The architect and project manager then approached Sprung for an alternative proposal.
How Sprung Delivered
Sprung provided two ice-rink structures (one 120’ wide x 215’ long, the other 120’ wide x 229’ long) and one gymnasium (120’ wide x 215’ long), which were shipped, erected and completed with a net savings of $7 million compared to the initial proposal. The decision to proceed with Sprung allowed the Edge School expansion to go forward on budget and on time. The two new ice arenas and gymnasium at the Edge School are now standout features of the school’s campus facilities and continue to receive high praise from visiting teams, spectators and alumni.
