The Ask

Leaders of the Blood Tribe/Kainai recognized a need for a community centre and large multi-purpose recreational venue that could be used and enjoyed by their people. Not only could such a facility encourage active living and sporting activities, it could also serve as a place of support for those facing pressing social and health matters.

How Sprung Delivered

After carefully considering a number of building options, the Blood Tribe decided that Sprung’s technology would provide the ideal building envelope to accommodate a wide range of needs and activities.

Within a few short months, a fully insulated, 130’ x 290’ Sprung structure was erected. Built to withstand the high wind loads of the southern Alberta foothills, the large facility features a Kynar Desert Tan and Brownstone Red membrane, daylight panels and a variety of dedicated spaces, such as a library, a nutrition center, an Elders center, a weight room, and a 12,000-square-foot gymnasium that includes basketballs courts, a running track, bleachers (with seating for 804 people) and even a jumbotron scoreboard.

Let’s Talk

A New Chapter Begins

After 138 years serving Southern Alberta, Western Tent would like to announce that our operations are being absorbed by our larger conglomerate, Sprung Structures. As we move forward, many of the products we’ve offered over the years—including residential and commercial awnings, canopies, tents and custom shelters—will no longer be available.

Thank you to all of our loyal and valued customers. Your trust and support over the years have meant the world to us. We invite you to visit www.sprung.com to see what the company’s future holds under the Sprung name.

With gratitude,
The Western Tent Team
