THE ASK

Filmed on location in Vancouver, British Columbia, Deck the Halls required numerous winter scenes. As the movie was being shot in the springtime, producers determined it would be best to find a way to enclose the two main houses where most of the filming was taking place. Not only would this help with creating and protecting a winter-like environment, it would also allow for night-time shots to be done during the day, maximizing efficiencies. Producers turned to Sprung for a fast and flexible solution.

HOW SPRUNG DELIVERED

Sprung designed and delivered a 130’ x 260’ structure with a peak height of 48’. Assembled and crane-lifted into place over two existing homes in the City of White Rock (part of Metro Vancouver), the structure featured a temporary anchoring system, eliminating the time and cost associated with conventional concrete footings. An additional opaque black interior membrane was also installed in order to enhance the nighttime filming environment.

Sprung’s short-term lease program made the structure a cost-effective solution for capturing the most important scenes of the movie.
