THE ASK

In 2011, Fort Carson Fire and Emergency Services needed to expand its emergency vehicle storage facilities in order to house a new piece of equipment—a US Army Striker 1500 fire rescue apparatus—that was arriving at the base. The storage structure needed to be built quickly so that it could be ready for the fast-approaching winter season.

HOW SPRUNG DELIVERED

Sprung was selected to provide the structure for the base’s emergency vehicle storage expansion. Connected directly to an existing fire station building, and constructed in just three months, the 30’ x 45’ structure is fully insulated and features a motorized rolling service door for easy access to the US Army Striker 1500 fire rescue apparatus. Ease of access was a crucial component for the structure, as airfield crash crews at Fort Carson must respond to airfield incidents within two minutes of receiving a crash alarm.
