THE ASK
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Interfaith Works recognized an urgent need to expand shelter capacity and emergency services in order to better support Thurston County’s most vulnerable residents. The coalition began searching for a reliable, cost-effective building solution that could be constructed quickly while remaining safe and comfortable for more than 100 people each day.
Although this additional space was required immediately, Interfaith Works was also committed to investing in a solution that was durable enough to serve the community for years to come. A Sprung structure was ultimately selected for its customizable features and flexible design, which would allow for the space to be adapted as community needs evolve .
HOW SPRUNG DELIVERED
Within just 19 days, Sprung delivered and built an innovative structure made with our patented tensioned membrane technology. Measuring 137,250 square feet, the building is large enough to house two and a half football fields or 122 Model 3 sedans. The Model 3 assembly line was constructed simultaneously inside the sprawling Sprung building, enabling production to start while the structure itself was being finished. Built at a fraction of the cost of conventional construction, the structure provided a perfect solution to Tesla’s production line expansion.
