THE ASK

The Province of Alberta estimated it would need an extra 2,200 hospital beds to address an anticipated surge of patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. While much of this demand for additional hospital beds was met through the temporary cancellation of elective surgeries, the province still needed to find additional space.

HOW SPRUNG DELIVERED

Sprung Structures recognized the immediate need and donated a 50’ x 165’ structure to help ramp up capacity by adding 70 additional beds. Delivery and construction of the structure took just 17 days, while completion of both the exterior and interior took a total of 22 days.

With the help of Cana Construction, Falkbuilt and Stantec, the Province of Alberta met its goal of achieving additional capacity to care for patients with COVID-19.
