The Ask

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Banff Sunshine Village had to comply with capacity restrictions by increasing on-mountain day lodging for guests. Mandatory safety measures introduced during the pandemic meant that Sunshine’s existing day lodge capacities were severely reduced. If visitors didn’t have a safe place to warm up and rest, Sunshine couldn’t operate. With winter fast approaching, the ski resort needed an immediate solution.

How Sprung Delivered

Choosing to build with Sprung Structures, Sunshine added two buildings and 9,000 square feet of lodging space to its base area in time for the ski season. Visitors had room to safely warm up, eat and rest between runs. The structures’ natural light, warmth and views of surrounding mountains helped to maintain a traditional ski lodge experience. With Sprung’s in-house leasing program, Sunshine exercised the option to purchase, and now, both Sprung structures will remain as permanent fixtures on the mountain.

A New Chapter Begins

After 138 years serving Southern Alberta, Western Tent would like to announce that our operations are being absorbed by our larger conglomerate, Sprung Structures. As we move forward, many of the products we’ve offered over the years—including residential and commercial awnings, canopies, tents and custom shelters—will no longer be available.

Thank you to all of our loyal and valued customers. Your trust and support over the years have meant the world to us. We invite you to visit www.sprung.com to see what the company’s future holds under the Sprung name.

With gratitude,
