THE ASK

The Illinois Gaming Board put out a call for proposals for a new gaming destination in Waukegan, a northern suburb of Chicago. The board encouraged all project bidders to propose a plan that would include both a permanent casino, as well a temporary one that would allow for gaming to take place while the permanent venue was under construction.

After consideration by the gaming board, Full House Resorts’ “American Place” proposal, which included a 70,000-square-foot Sprung structure as a temporary casino solution, was selected and granted the North Chicagoland gaming license for the project. Soon after, construction of the interim Sprung structure, was underway.

HOW SPRUNG DELIVERED

Sprung designed and delivered a 70,000-squarefoot structure that was completed within months. Known as The Temporary by American Place, the sprawling casino space features approximately 1,000 slot machines and table games, three restaurants, a sportsbook with several television screens, and a large center bar with video poker games.

Thanks to 3D projection mapping, the structure also features a dynamic art piece on its white exterior membrane, providing an immersive experience that transports visitors to a different world. Exterior lighting effects also highlight different holidays and special days throughout the year.
