THE ASK

Already home to one of the province’s COVID-19 assessment centers, Mississauga Hospital needed to increase its capacity for a potential influx of positive COVID-19 patients, based on Public Health Ontario projections.

HOW SPRUNG DELIVERED

Sprung teamed up with BLT Construction to supply a 50’ x 165’ structure, which sits on a parking lot adjacent to Mississauga Hospital and is connected by two corridors. The structure, which was delivered four days after it was ordered and took only 14 days to build, brought the hospital an 90 additional beds to meet potential surges in COVID-19 patients.

This engineered solution was designed to withstand extreme wind loads, and to shed snow. The hospital plans to dismantle and store the facility so that it can be repurposed at a future date.
