THE ASK
Orange County Public Works required a large, building code-compliant facility that could host international badminton tournaments in the City of Fountain Valley, while also the serving as a multi-purpose venue for the community. After exploring various building solutions, OCPW determined that Sprung could deliver an aesthetically pleasing, international tournament-level badminton facility that would outperform the other options.
HOW SPRUNG DELIVERED
Sprung designed and delivered a 10,000-square-foot structure now known as Freedom Hall. Located in Fountain Valley’s Mile Square Regional Park, the spacious, clear-span facility houses a gymnasium with badminton courts and ping pong tables, as well as a storage room, a servery and other functional areas.
Fully operational just four months after order placement, the structure also incorporates a number of energy-saving design elements, including an insulated building envelope, LED lighting and a highly efficient air conditioning system. A wide band of native and drought-tolerant landscaping encircles the facility to blend in with the park setting.
