Arctic Circle

The Ask

Not long ago, destination travel to the high Arctic meant staying in a tent on the tundra. In the early 1990s, the Arctic Watch team decided to build the Wilderness Lodge complex on Somerset Island, Nunavut, to bring a new level of comfort to ecotourism.

How Sprung Delivered

The Sprung structures at Arctic Watch Wilderness Lodge provide sleeping, dining and recreational facilities to the hundreds of guests who come throughout the summer season for the ultimate Northern experience. The two larger structures (30’ x 70’ and 30’ x 30’) make up the main complex and include a kitchen, dining room, audio-visual projection room, lounge, showers and more. The lodge also has 16 smaller Sprung structures (measuring 12’ x 12’) that serve as private cabins.

Let’s Talk

A New Chapter Begins

After 138 years serving Southern Alberta, Western Tent would like to announce that our operations are being absorbed by our larger conglomerate, Sprung Structures. As we move forward, many of the products we’ve offered over the years—including residential and commercial awnings, canopies, tents and custom shelters—will no longer be available.

Thank you to all of our loyal and valued customers. Your trust and support over the years have meant the world to us. We invite you to visit www.sprung.com to see what the company’s future holds under the Sprung name.

With gratitude,
The Western Tent Team
