In 2001, one of the world’s largest power companies needed to remediate a former manufactured gas plant site, located in northern Illinois.

120′ wide by 270′ long Sprung Structure capable of handling negative pressure. This structure was designed to control the VOC’s and coal tar odors emanating from the excavation site as well as ensuring DOE compliance for public safety.

Given the logistics of this large site, the Sprung structure was designed to be crane lifted into place. The structure was moved several times during the remediation project. A major factor in selecting Sprung for this project was the cost-effective leasing program, which gave the client the option of returning the structure at the end of the project.
