THE ASK

For the third season of “The Chosen,” which is an American television series about the life of Jesus of Nazareth, producers wanted to build a stand-alone sound stage and supporting production complex near Midlothian, Texas. Conventional construction timelines were not an option, as the sound stage needed to be completed quickly so that filming could get underway. “The Chosen” team reached out to Pacifica Ventures to explore some alternative solutions, and Pacifica Ventures, in turn, reached out to Sprung.

HOW SPRUNG DELIVERED

Sprung teamed up with Pacifica Ventures and CRC Construction Group to design and construct a 22,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art sound stage complete with a 40-foot independent lighting grid and 9,000 square feet of offices. The unique design of the structure’s wall system allows for a four-layer sound attenuation system with a minimum STC rating of 48. In addition to the sound stage, a number of Sprung support facilities were constructed to provide the crew with mill space, as well as areas for wardrobe, props, lighting and grip. The entire facility was constructed in just six months.
